Malmesbury Abbey Wedding // Laura & Jamie
A Malmesbury Abbey wedding with a distinctively English garden party feel is on the blog today. Having met Laura & Jamie at Emma and Maja’s working man’s club wedding the previous summer, I was really excited to head to such a beautiful part of the country to photograph their own wedding day. Malmesbury is such a stunning place, and the abbey itself, dating from the 7th century, is an imposing and magnificent place in which to marry.
The day started with the couple getting ready at The Old Bell Hotel, and once everyone was ready, it was just a short stroll over to the abbey for the wedding. Thankfully, the weather was glorious, which made the meandering journey on foot through the woodland and down to the gardens for the reception all the more enjoyable. The afternoon passed by with an alfresco sax player, some readings and some speeches, all enjoyed in the stunning grounds of the Abbey House, a beautiful place with 1300 years of history and the first King of England buried somewhere in the garden….
On to dinner and more speeches, held in a marquee in the grounds of The Abbey House Gardens, a time for everyone to refuel before the evening party. Held in the conservatory of the abbey house, it was a cosy space for some moving and grooving.
