FAQ’S
How do we book you?
A completed booking form together with a retainer of £500.00 secures the date.
Do we need to meet?
A video or voice call is a great way for us to have a chat about your wedding and my approach but in person-meetings are possible, too.
How many images will I receive?
I aim to provide in excess of 500 images for a full day’s coverage.
How many of my photos will be black & white and how many colour?
I normally try to deliver a 80:20 ratio in favour of colour… You may notice that I show a lot of black & white photos on my site. This is a personal preference as I love the timeless look and feel of old black & white film photography.
How far will you travel?
As far as you want me to travel… there will be additional fees for weddings outside of England, enquire for more info.
Do you take family group photographs?
Yes… at every wedding… These are very important pictures. On my pre-wedding info form I will ask you to list the family group shots you would like taken. I suggest up to six for the documentary style you are booking me for to prevail.
Will you take portraits of just the two of us?
I ask all my couples if they would like a few portraits to be taken on the day. The choice is completely yours. My aim is to make portaits look natural and for you to feel comfortable with them being taken.
How long will it take to receive my photos?
I aim to have them ready to view online by the time you return from your honeymoon or, in other words, a few weeks after your wedding.
Do you shoot film?
Many clients have commented that my digital work already possesses a “filmic” quality, which I achieve through my shooting and editing techniques. I shot my first wedding on film and appreciate the medium. Although I don’t market my services based on current trends, I am certainly open to incorporating a roll or two of 35mm film into your wedding day coverage if this is something you would particularly like. There would be a small additional charge to cover the cost of the film and its processing.
Do you use flash?
When I need to. Flash photography can be intrusive to guests. I use flash to improve the quality of light rather than quantity, Fast action on the dance floor also works well for a studio 54 vibe, but I am mostly a natural light unobtrusive photographer.
Do you have insurance?
Being a professional wedding photographer, it would be madness not to. I have full Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
Do you provide photo books or albums?
I do not have packages…. I offer books, prints and albums as extras, enquire for more information.
ABOUT ME
I live by the beach in Kent with my wife Lyndsey, another wedding photographer.
I like coffee, red wine, cycling, old guitars, european cinema and music. I shot my first wedding in 2007 (on 35mm film), almost 20 years ago, so I am pretty experienced with all types of weddings.
Being unobtrusive is very important to me. Most people get in touch with me because they do not like having their photos taken. I believe the best photos taken of ourselves are the ones where we are not aware of the camera.
My aim as your photographer on your wedding day is to be present and blend in: to be a guest with a camera, and provide you with beautiful photographs of yourselves, your friends, and your family, all enjoying the day naturally without the need for direction. I will document your wedding day… not direct it.
With over 16 years experience photographing weddings, I have got unobtrusive down to a fine art. I won’t be up in your face all day on a wide angle lens… that is not documentary photography.
